HE Awards 2009

Collegiate Celebrates Success!

All the hard work paid off for Warrington Collegiate students last Thursday (12 Nov) when their achievements were recognised at the Higher Education Awards.

The ceremony, held at St Elphin’s Church, was a celebration of the determination and commitment of students who have completed HNC, HND, NVQ, Foundation Degrees and teacher training.

As well as the academic certificates, several students also received special awards for outstanding achievements in their subject areas.

Emma Galliano, who completed the HNC Construction course while also working full-time, received the Graham Lewis Award for Construction and Jumakhan Alizada was awarded the Phil Callaghan Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in IT.

Many of the students have already secured permanent employment or are going on to further education, with several students continuing their studies at the University Of Chester, which recently awarded the Collegiate with Associate status.

Mike Stoddart Director of Sport, Tourism and Catering, commented: “We are immensely proud of our students and the ceremony was a great way to recognise their achievements.  We wish them every success as they move on to continue their studies or to employment.”
