Is the course for me?

This programme is an Entry - Level 1 qualification aimed at young people aged 16-18. It is recognised by employers and provides a progression route onto a Level 1/ Level 2 programmes of study. You will achieve recognised entry level qualification in your specialised Vocational area: either Brickwork, Plumbing, Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Motor vehicle or Electrical Installation; you will study Functional English, Functional Maths, PSD (Personal, Social Development Units) ICT and practical theory along side the Practical aspect of your chosen vocation.

Introduction to Construction

Health and Safety

Practical Plumbing Skills

What are the entry requirements?

A minimum of 4 GCSEs (E or above) with a willingness to learn and Entry 3 Maths and English.Applicants who do not meet these entry requirements will be assessed on an individual basis by the Curriculum Manager and Curriculum Director.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed via the completion of course work throughout the academic year. Will I complete work placements? The College is committed to ensuring that all students benefit from the opportunity to undertake work placement whilst at College and we will support you to obtain a placement in a relevant vocational setting. Are trips and residentials organised during the course? Learners are encouraged to take part in outward bound activities. Are there any links with industry? Regular industry visits will take place throughout the course.

What could I study next?

Following successful completion of this course you may be able to progress onto a Level 2 qualification in the relevant vocational area. Are there any additional costs? Boots will be required for practical work.
